Baby McCaffery: Inside Olivia Culpo and Christian McCaffery’s Baby Shower
In early spring, Olivia Culpo & Christian McCaffery hosted a baby shower for their firstborn child in style at Castle Hill Inn, in Newport, Rhode Island. At the time, the gender was a surprise, but in Mid-July, the McCaffery’s welcomed a sweet baby girl into this world.
Baby McCaffery’s celebration embraced traditional baby shower colors, incorporating blues, pinks, creams, and sage, as to not give away the surprise of the child’s gender. The floral-forward event design drew inspiration from a Parisian cafe, celebrating le petite bebe. There were multiple focal floral elements within the space, filling the iconic tent at Castle Hill with fragrant blooms, and whimsy at every turn. Our team worked closely with the couple and Lucio Andreozzi to create the perfect design plan.
Picking just one favorite element from this event is impossible, so we’ve highlighted the plethora of floral moments that seamlessly intertwined together to create a magical and immersive design story within the space.
Floral Teddy Bears
One of the most attention grabbing elements within the space were a family of floral teddy bears, featuring a momma bear, a papa bear, and a baby bear. The bears we styled together as a family, acting as the perfect photo op for guests of the baby shower. These show-stopping floral sculptures were composed of thousands of stems of white hydrangeas, with the tallest bear standing about 10’ tall, creating a stunning focal point within the tent.
Oliver’s Floral Sculpture
Styled within the vignette of the family of bears, we created a bespoke floral sculpture of the couple’s dog, and “brother to be” Oliver. It was important to the couple to feature their fur baby during the celebration of their first child, and what better way to do that than with a floral sculpture! Using dried hydrangea, we were able to completely capture Oliver’s essence, while creating an everlasting memento for the couple to take home with them.
Hanging Floral Mobiles
Suspended over the guest tables were darling floral mobiles, complete with hanging teddy bear accents in varied shades of the color palette. To create these stunning 5’ floral hoops, we used perfect pastel blooms such as hydrangeas, garden roses, peonies, and delphinium, artfully designed to create dreamy overhead floral installations.
Full Floral Tablescapes
Below, the guest tables were expertly designed and styled with vignettes of varied crystal vessels, table top lamps, and a collection of curated candlelight. The floral arrangements were lush and layered, with springs finest blooms in shades of baby pink, light blue, muted sage, and cream. The ends of the long guest tables were capped with a stunning floral spill, with blooms effortlessly cascading from the tabletop, and pooling at the base.
The Grazing Table
We adorned the grazing table with sculptural towers of fresh fruit and florals, adding visiual interest to the food station. Creating croquembouche style towers in varied heights, we incorporated fruits that fit within the color palette, such as green grapes, and blueberries, as well as floral elements such as cream tea roses, and blush pink ranunculus. The tablescape was tied together with a gorgeous crystal candelabra that elevated the feel, and made the grazing table a delight for all of the senses.
Bevi e Vivi Cart
Lastly, we gave the infamous Bevi E Vivi cart some love, adorning the beverage cart with a cascading floral installation of bountiful blooms in shades of cream, blush, sage, and baby blue. Utilizing special beautiful spring blossoms such as hydrangea, garden roses, campanula, delphinium, and spirea, our talented designers created a lush, fragrant floral story at the beverage cart that transformed the guest experience.
We had the absolute pleasure of kicking off our high season with this event, and are so honored to have been included in this special day. We are so excited for the new parents, as well as for the healthy baby McCaffery!
