Wedding Weekend Florals: Designing Beyond the Ceremony Day

When it comes to planning your wedding weekend, it is important to create a cohesive flow of events that seamlessly lead into one another. While the ceremony and reception are the “main event”  there are multiple ways to celebrate with your guests on the days leading up to, and even following your wedding. From intimate, candlelit rehearsal dinners, to sensational welcome parties, Team Stoneblossom is ready to create heartfelt and memorable event designs for every aspect of your wedding weekend.

The Rehearsal Dinner

As the name suggests, the rehearsal dinner follows the ceremony rehearsal. This is traditionally a time for the wedding party and the families of the couple to become acquainted with one another over dinner on the eve of the wedding. In modern times, more guests may be invited, but this typically remains a more intimate affair. When it comes to rehearsal dinner design, some couples may choose to have a completely different feel from their wedding. Whether this means creating a more relaxed, intimate feel, or curating a vibrant design plan full of color, the couple has complete creative control when setting the mood for the celebration ahead.

The Welcome Party

Similar to the Rehearsal Dinner, a Welcome Party takes place prior to the big day, usually a day or two before the wedding. The Welcome Party acts as a fun way to welcome your guests to town for the wedding, and allows everyone to catch up in a relaxed environment. As the welcome party typically hosts more guests than the Rehearsal Dinner, couples may choose to make more of a statement within their Welcome Party Design. From a colorful cocktail party, to an elegant seated dinner, this is the perfect opportunity to make an impactful first impression on your guests! Couples may choose to lean into a theme for this event, drawing inspiration from the city or local landscape where the wedding will take place. As a floral design house based on the East Coast, for our clients this can mean incorporating coastal hues of white and blue, or even opting for a larger-than-life floral sculpture, such as a lobster, to welcome their guests to the coast.

The Send-Off Brunch

Many couples choose to have a send-off brunch on the morning following their wedding. This provides the perfect time for guests to say congratulations one more time before they head home. The morning after is more laid back, compared to the Rehearsal Dinner or Welcome Party. Here, we tend to see a more simple yet impactful tablescape, with touches of florals and candlelight. Some of our clients choose to repurpose the floral centerpieces from their wedding to the brunch, which is a perfect way to add flair to the tables, while seamlessly translating the overall feel of the wedding from event to event.

The art of weddings is ever-evolving and it is important to remember that there is no set “rule book”. The importance of your wedding weekend should be centered around who you are as a couple, and every element of your design plan should reflect that. Whether you envision a celebration taking place over the course of a few days, or you wish to focus on the wedding day festivities, our team of expert designers are at the ready to help you create the perfect design plan that is unique to your love story.
